Robin Hood, Guildford

Description: This smaller venue has the feel of a football or rugby club bar, this is emphasised by the team photos on the wall in one corner and the blue and white tartan carpet, left over from the last time the Bay City Rollers were in town. It has its own car park on one side and a municipal one (free after 6pm) on the other. The ceiling probably started off as magnolia-painted embossed paper but is now yellowed by years of smoking, however now all the smokers have to stand outside the door. The walls are covered with photographs of the regulars enjoyed themselves and the bands that have played there. Towards the back is a raised area which I think would surely work better as a stage for the music, though they seem to prefer the other corner. It has small diamond-pattened windows, which make it dark inside during the day. Beers on offer include Fosters, Stella Artois, Guinness. Live music on Friday nights, other entertainment is provided by fruit machines and a jukebox.

  2. This place is by far the best pub for live music in the area. Tony and Nigel are the most laid back bar staff in the universe and all the better for it. I just popped in cos i heard some great rock music from inside and stayed all night. It has stacks of the one thing so many other places lack, a great friendly atmosphere. Nice one Tony P.S. band were called Band X awesome !
