Description: First opened in 1830, this was one of the first beerhouses to open under the terms of a new law. It is a one room venue, set in the narrow streets across the road from Hampton Court railway station, and is a little oasis. It underwent a major refit in April 2006, so its hard to tell what it was like before, but the current decor is very homely. Though it has the all too familiar magnolia ceilings and black beams, the walls have a number of different styles that all seem to work together. There are two large fireplaces, one at either end, and backlit alcoves with some objet d'art in one corner, and even an old grandfather clock. The U-shaped wooden bar has a few stools and there's a couple of high continental style tables. The rest of the seating is provided by a multitude of leather armchairs and sofas, and upholstered benches. Entertainment is provided by 2 large screen LCD TVs and a fruit machine. Sadly this venue no longer has live music.

a great local, currently spoilt by indifferent bar staff who seem to put their needs before those of the customer. Avoid the Tuesday evening Quiz Night unless you want to loose your hearing - the microphone is so loud, it's impossible to chat.
